2012 DOE Campaign

Dr. Danielson's 2012 CFC DOECAST

Dear DOE Employees,

At Secretary Chu's request, I have the distinct privilege to present to each of you a tremendous opportunity to be an important part of a cause much greater than any one of us as individuals. As Vice Chair of the 2012 Department of Energy Combined Federal Campaign, I invite you a join your Federal colleagues to be a collective force for hope, and for improving lives.

DOE is now celebrating the sixth decade of giving as part of the CFC. In over fifty years, DOE employees have given generously to help those in need. As Federal workers, we are privileged to serve, but we are also blessed with the opportunity to improve the lives of others through the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA).

The CFCNCA is the only authorized charitable giving campaign for federal employees in the Washington Metro area, it runs from September 1 through December 15, and supports more than 4,400 approved charities that reach local, national and international individuals and communities in need. Importantly, the CFC helps charities do more by serving as a one stop donation point for thousands of Federal employees. You can multiply this effect by using the available e-giving and online methods, which eliminate the use of costly paper pledging products and thus further reduce administrative costs.

This year, the CFCNCA theme is "Choose Hope," and in our DOE campaign we emphasize our opportunity to "Give Together" to improve lives. Your contributions are voluntary. There are no lists of who gives to the CFC and you can give with complete anonymity through the e-giving option. During this CFC season, each of you will receive a personal contact from our campaign team asking you to join the cause, to be part of our collective force to "Choose Hope, and to "Give Together" as generously as possible within our campaign window.

Thank you all for this effort. Watch for our "Soft Launch" on October 9th, for our website at www.energy.gov/cfc, for campaign posters and progress reports throughout the building, and for key workers at the ready to assist you. I look forward to seeing you at our opening celebration on October 30, and at special events throughout the campaign.

Sincerely,

Dr. David T. Danielson
