This past Wednesday, the Energy Department livestreamed  a conversation between Energy Secretary Steven Chu and U.S. Senator Mark Udall (D-CO), two leaders and champions of renewable energy innovation. The topic at hand – the future of the U.S. wind industry – was driven by questions from a live audience and participants online using Twitter, Facebook, Google +, and email to ask Energy about wind technology, policy, and careers.

Richland - - The Energy Department's Office of River Protection announced the contract for Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International Inc. (ATL) has been extended for a second one-year option.  ATL, a women-owned small business, will continue to provide analytical services and testing work at the Hanford Site 222-S Laboratory through January 2, 2014.

“ORP values ATL’s performance and commitment to safety,” said Ellen Mattlin, Tank Farm Programs Division Director.  “DOE appreciates the technical and management capabilities demonstrated by the ATL workforce.”

Earlier this week, the Office of Environmental Management shared the news that a new enclosure at Oak Ridge that processes radioactive casks has saved nearly $20 million by putting the facility on a path to complete cleanup work two years ahead of schedule.

Small businesses were critical to making that happen.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Small Business Administration announced that they have revised size definitions for small businesses in Administrative and Support & Waste Management and Remediation Services categories, saying these revisions "reflect changes in marketplace conditions." The new standards are published in the Federal Register.
