The 21st Century Truck Partnership aims to improve the fuel efficiency of heavy duty-freight vehicles in existing and future fleets throughout the country. The partnership includes 15 heavy-duty engine, truck, and bus manufacturers, four federal agencies and 12 national laboratories.

Researchers at Eaton Corporation are creating a manufacturing process that not only streamlines LED fixture designs but also removes unnecessary materials and parts. The new process will enable LED chips to sit directly on heat sinks, resulting in better heat transfer and ultimately increasing efficiency of LEDs.

The world’s largest light emitting diode (LED) conversion project to date is under way in Los Angeles, California. In the project’s first phase alone, the city retrofitted more than 141,000 streetlights, reducing energy use by 63% and saving the city $7 million a year in electricity costs.
With a wave of the checkered flag, the fourth Green Racing season came to an end in late October at the Petit Le Mans – an American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. The Green Racing protocols – published by the Energy Department, Environmental Protection Agency and SAE International – emphasize cleaner fuels, efficient vehicle technologies, and speed in the races that adopt them, such as the Petit Le Mans.
