Dennis P. Ferrigno - EMAB Board Vice-Chair
Dennis P. Ferrigno is a minority partner of CAF & Associates, LLC, a woman owned small business that provides senior level management consulting for US and Foreign Businesses, National Laboratories, and International Agency Organizations. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Graduate School and the Denver Seminary, and is involved in graduate student advising and teaching graduate classes for the Engineering and Management
Dr. Ferrigno is a recognized subject matter expert in Energy and Natural Resources, Project Management, Program Trouble-Shooting, Strategic Planning, Performance Metrics and Operational Readiness. He has held senior executive roles with Fortune 500 companies with Profit & Loss/Operations responsibility for over $300 M per year (self-perform managing over $2Billion/year in contract work). He has extensive international energy and natural resource experience for technology demonstration/development, engineering, procurement, construction, and nuclear and non-nuclear operations within these heavy industry sectors.
Dr. Ferrigno has been involved in the design, construction and operational readiness for over 20 nuclear power plants under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s regulatory licensing requirements. He also led the CD-0, CD-1 review for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Chemical Metallurgical Research Replacement Facility, as well as independent cost, schedule and lifecycle reviews prior to DOE’s submittal for congressional funding.
Recently, Dr. Ferrigno supported large project turn-around at DOE’s Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, leading a team to address safety, administrative, and employee morale issues. Under his leadership, the project surpassed previous performance by a factor of four and doubled staff within months in order to support American Recovery and Reinvestment Act goals and objectives. Dr. Ferrigno holds an active Q clearance and is current in his DOE facility training for Radiation Workers, Hazwoper, and Nuclear Criticality Safety. He is also certified to make high-hazard building entry on an as required basis at DOE radiological contaminated facilities.
Dr. Ferrigno continues to support private sector nuclear renaissance development; mining, oil and gas project enhancement; and corrective actions in support of client directives. He has held federal appointments as an advisor to the Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Energy, and various State government advisory boards. He also chairs the American Nuclear Society’s Working Group for the historic standard ANS-40.35, “Volume Reduction of Low-Level Radioactive Waste or Mixed Waste.”
Dr. Ferrigno serves as the Vice Chair of EMAB, and was appointed to the Board as a special Government employee in order to provide expert advice on large project planning and management.
