The University of Maryland's “WaterShed” won the 2011 Solar Decathlon. The school from College Park, Maryland competed against 18 other collegiate teams to build an aesthetically pleasing, architecturally innovative and well-engineered energy efficient living space that generates its energy from solar power.
Secretary Chu visited the 2011 Solar Decathlon to hear from students about their energy-efficient, solar powered homes. Watch the video!
The “First Light” solar home prototype developed and constructed by students from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, won the Engineering Contest today at the 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.
