Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) is a joint-action agency which generates and sells reliable electricity at wholesale to its eighteen non-profit, municipally-owned member utilities, and develops innovative products and services to help them deliver value to customers. Wells Public Utilities - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Willmar Municipal Utilities - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Willmar Municipal Utilities offer rebates on Energy Star rated appliances and air conditioners and Marathon water heaters. In addition to these rebates, WMU also offers a Load Sharing Program. Participating customers can receive a $10 per month credit on electric bills if they allow their water heaters to be energized only from 11:00 PM until 7:00 AM, and free load shifting equipment for air conditioners. Wind and Solar-Electric (PV) Systems Exemption

Minnesota excludes the value added by solar-electric (PV) systems installed after January 1, 1992 from real property taxation. In addition all real and personal property of wind-energy systems is exempt from the state's property tax.* However, the land on which a PV or wind system is located remains taxable.

Wind Energy Sales Tax Exemption

Wind-energy conversion systems used as electric-power sources are exempt from Minnesota's sales tax. Materials used to manufacture, install, construct, repair or replace wind-energy systems also are exempt from the state sales tax. A "wind energy conversion system" (WECS) is defined as any device, such as a wind charger, wind mill or wind turbine, that converts wind energy to a form of usable energy.

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association - Non-Residential Energy Efficient Rebate Program

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association offers a range of rebates to non-residential customers who purchase and install approved energy efficient equipment. Rebates are available for motors, geothermal, air-source, and water-source heat pumps, air conditioning, lighting, variable frequency drives, and custom measures. All equipment requirements must be met in order to be eligible for rebates. Rebate amounts and equipment requirements can be found on the program web site listed above. Eligible customers can receive incentives worth 50% of the project cost, up to $100,000.

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association provides financial incentives for its residential customers to purchase and install energy efficient HVAC equipment. Rebates are offered for qualified geothermal, air source, and ductless heat pumps; central air conditioning; ECM motors; and heat pump water heaters. Rebates for air-source heat pumps and central air conditioners vary based upon system efficiency. All equipment must meet program requirements and be installed within Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association service territory.

Xcel Energy (Electric and Gas) - Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Rebates

This program is available only to Minnesota residents who take both electric and natural gas service from Xcel Energy. Customers must undertake a low-cost energy audit ($60) before implementing energy-efficiency improvements. The rebate amount will then depend on the measures chosen. The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program provides higher incentives for furnaces, boilers, A/C, and water heaters than Xcel's Heating and Cooling Rebates Program.
