MMPA - Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Program

Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) generates and purchases electricity for 11 member communities in Minnesota. The following 8 members participate in the MMPA WE Save Business Program: Arlington, Brownton, Buffalo, Chaska, Le Sueur, North St. Paul, Olivia, and Winthrop. Through these communities, MMPA offers a number of rebates to commercial and industrial customers for upgrading certain equipment. Rebates are available for light fixtures, lighting controls, motors, variable frequency drives and vending machine controls.

MMPA - Residential Energy Efficiency Program

Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) generates and purchases electricity for 11 member communities in Minnesota. The following eight members participate in the MMPA We Save Program: Arlington, Brownton, Buffalo, Chaska, Le Sueur, North St. Paul, Olivia, and Winthrop. Through these communities, MMPA offers rebates to residential customers for upgrading certain household equipment. Rebates are available for CFL bulbs, air-source heat pumps, central air conditioners, air conditioner tune-ups, dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators and refrigerator recycling.

Fuel Mix and Emissions Disclosure

In September 2002, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) issued an order requiring the state's regulated electric utilities to disclose to customers details on the fuel mix and emissions of electric generation. Utilities must provide this information to customers in a standard format twice annually. Utilities may distribute this information to customers electronically. Disclosure information must also be filed with the PUC.

Grand Marais PUC - Commercial & Industrial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMMPA) is a joint-action agency which generates and sells reliable electricity at wholesale to its eighteen non-profit, municipally-owned member utilities, and develops innovative products and services to help them deliver value to customers. Spring Valley Public Utilities, a member of SMMPA, provides incentives for its commercial and industrial customers to improve the energy efficiency of facilities.

Grand Marais PUC - Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

With help from SMMPA, Grand Marais Public Utilities provides incentives for its residential and commercial customers to improve the energy efficiency of homes.

Great River Energy (28 Member Cooperatives) - Commercial and Industrial Efficiency Rebates

Great River Energy, a generation and transmission cooperative which serves 28 electric distribution cooperatives in Minnesota, offers rebates for the installation of certain energy efficiency improvements to residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers of its member utilities. The list of eligible measures generally includes lighting, motors, adjustable speed drives, compressed air systems, refrigeration, and HVAC devices.

Home Energy Loan Program

The Home Energy Loan Program is a statewide program of the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency administered by the Center for Energy and Environment Financial Resources. It offers low interest loans to homeowners who want to make energy improvements to their properties. Eligible improvements include water heaters, furnaces, air conditioners, building insulation, windows, and doors. Custom improvements may be eligible as determined by the program administrator.

Hutchinson Utilities Commission - Commercial Energy Efficiency Program

Hutchinson Utilities Commission (HUC) offers rebates to commercial customers in Hutchinson who perform energy conservation improvements to their businesses. These rebates are limited to one application and no more than $2,000 for each commercial service address. Rebates are available for a variety of energy efficient equipment including lighting; HVAC and cooling technologies; motors, pumps, and variable frequency drives; and refrigeration and restaurant equipment.

Hutchinson Utilities Commission - Residential Energy Efficiency Program

Hutchinson Utilities Commission (HUC) offers a rebate of up to $500 to residents of Hutchinson who perform energy conservation improvements to their home. Rebates are available for a variety of energy efficient equipment including furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, geothermal and air-source heat pumps, water heaters, refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, programmable thermostats, and CFLs. All equipment must meet certain energy efficiency standards listed on the program web site.

Interconnection Standards

Minnesota's net-metering law, enacted in 1983, applies to all investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities and rural electric cooperatives. Qualifying facilities of less than 40 kilowatts (kW) are eligible for net metering; there is no statewide capacity limit for net metering. However, uniform interconnection regulations were not implemented when net metering was established.
