If you do not see the hangout begin promptly at 2pm, please refresh your browser.

Join us this Thursday, May 16 at 2pm EDT for a Google+ Hangout on Securing the Smart Grid. Panelists from across the power systems industry will discuss a critical element of a secure and resilient electric power system, the smart grid cybersecurity workforce.

Grid security professionals are the workers at the core of a secure and resilient national electric system. As part of the Energy Department’s commitment to invest in the security, reliability and resiliency of the nation’s grid – the Office of Electricity Delivery and Electric Reliability supported the development of a job performance model for smart grid security specialists via a partnership project with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the National Board of Information Security Examiners. The following panelists from across the industry will be on hand to discuss the report and answer your questions about working on a modern power system.

  • Rhonda Dunfee - Cyber Security Engineer, U.S. Department of Energy
  • Michael Assante - President & CEO, National Board of Information Security Examiners
  • Tim Conway - Technical Director, SANS Institute - ICS and SCADA
  • Benjamin Beberness - Chief Information Officer of Information Technology Services, Snohomish County PUD

We will be taking your questions about working on the smart grid in advance and during the Hangout. Submit your questions by emailing newmedia@hq.doe.gov, posting in the comments on the Energy Department's Facebook page or Google+ event, or tweeting @ENERGY using #askEnergy.
